A Brief Hiatus...

Hey, all!

It pains me to do this, but I'm up to my neck in work this week, and I just can't devote the necessary time to the rankings. So I'm going to use my once-per-season get out of the rankings free card this week, and come back next week.

Thanks for your understanding, and I'll have the postmortem tomorrow as usual.

Back shortly!

(P.S. Kevin was totally going to be #1, and Ash stays in the basement.)

Yorick, thanks! ::blushes::

Can I just make a side comment, as I look over everyone's lists: isn't it incredible that even as we near-universally recognize Kevin as a front-runner, any of the next three contestants could all win the show and completely deserve it? Hopefully without jinxing it, I'm just thrilled that this season I'm near-guaranteed to have a winner whose food seriously impresses me.

I'd like to make a motion that Jen can no longer be referred to as "Norris." Chuck Norris would never second-guess himself as much as she's been doing lately. Bah!

Alright I'm just going to look at who I think is the four most likely to win: Jen, Kevin, Brian, and Michael V. All four are amazing but to rank them I gotta think about it a little differently: if I had to choose one to cook my last 5 course meal, who would it be?

Although I am incredibly attracted to Jen and think she is a great chef that would win any other season, she has met her match against the other 3. She is missing a certain creativity the others have. Kevin is better than Jen and made a deconstructed mole - that is my favorite sauce and that dish is one I would love to try. It is so hard to say this but I think he wouldn't hit the "wow" factor as consistently over a meal that the V brothers would.

So that brings it down to the two most technically proficient chefs we've seen in top chef history - Richard would be up there with his Salmon and Wasabi/Chocolate or the fat fried tofu in curry, but even he wouldn't reach it. If I had to put them in a head to head match, they would both present very familiar dishes that would incredibly shock me. I would have to imagine they'd take my favorite food - New York style pizza - and present it in a way that I'd never expect. That being said, Bryan has the focus and overall knowledge to beat his brother. He has to be the favorite to win.
