Pepperoni?!?

Dominic Armato
As it turns out, there's an unexpected little epilogue to my D'Amato's Bakery post of early May.

This may not seem news-worthy, but D'Amato's is an old, old, old school Italian bakery. And in the 15 years I've been going, they've steadfastly served two types of pizza... cheese and sausage. So when I popped in for cannoli this afternoon, I was exceedingly surprised to discover that they've added pepperoni to the offerings. Pepperoni isn't my thing. I'll certainly enjoy it if offered, but I'll almost never choose it over other options. But I imagine there are others out there who will be rather excited about this development.

WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? That is totally crazy, but there is no way it can compete with the sausage. However, I will prove it to myself. I cannot believe you were holding out on this.

Well, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who realizes the true gravity of this development :-)

If I weren't coming off a huge lunch, I would have given it a try, but I await your report. Like you, I don't believe for a moment that the sausage is the least bit threatened as the king of D'Amato's pizza.

Never mind the pepperoni. The good news is that it's abundant. The bad news is that it's flavorless. Doesn't come within a hundred miles of the sausage.
